Don't forget Lands' End...

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Lands' End is running a promotion of 25% off all purchases, including clearance merchandise.  I have always had great luck with Lands' End kids' clothing, though finding the gems has typically meant sorting through lots of mediocre merchandise.  Over the past few years, however, they have clearly tried to shift their aesthetic from boring traditional to a hybrid of Crewcuts and Mini Boden.  Some of the results are really great.  Take their swimwear, for example:  Lands' End is the one of very few places where you can find solid rash guards for both boys and girls that will not proclaim your child a mini lifeguard, surf ninja or beach princess thanks to obnoxious text and graphics.  The boys' rash guards pictured below are, after the promotion, $15.00 for the long sleeved, $10.50 for the short sleeved.  Truly great colors (there are many more available) and I have found them to last really well, even in the Arizona sun.
Now for an abrupt change of seasons, from warm to cold.  They have some good finds on clearance from last winter, also an additional 25% off of the sale price (see my picks below).  The hooded fleece cape ($10.50) looks perfect for a girl who will not be restricted by a coat.  Worn underneath that cape, with a cardigan or by itself, the navy stripe turtleneck sweater dress ($9.75) is just right for at least three of the four seasons.  These toddler rain boots come in navy and silver and remind me a bit of Hunter's kids' wellies.  The price ($15.00), however, does not remind me of Hunters!  If you have a little girl who insists on sparkles, see if this chartreuse sparkle stripe tissue turtleneck ($5.60) will pull her away from all of that sparkly pink out there.  Have a look at the coordinating leggings (also $5.60) in that same great color too (available in toddler sizes only).  In fact, the leggings would be perfect under the stripe turtleneck sweater dress.  For the boys, the sherpa lined hoodie ($15.00) looks perfect for fall, as does a classic plaid flannel shirt ($11.25).  Be sure to have a look at that plaid up close; it is a really nice mix of colors.  And when the snow comes, nothing is better than a fleece-lined Peruvian hat.  This one is only $11.25 and comes in three other great patterns.

Please keep in mind that the prices I have listed take into account the additional 25% off of the sale prices.  And any order over $50 ships for free.  Additional 25% off ends at midnight on September 4th.  Hooray for Lands' End!

  1. Thanks, Natalie! These prices are about the same as what I just paid at a different store for less cool clothes. I'd better keep up with your blog.
